Vesteraalens AS is an innovative seafood and marine ingredients company established in 1912. Known in Norway for producing the iconic canned fishballs. We supplied the famous polar explorer, Roald Amundsen, with proviants for his expeditions over one century ago.
In 2012 Vesteraalens went in a new direction. Based on sustainable harvesting of fresh marine raw materials from the arctic waters of Northern Norway, we decided to expand our business into the marine ingredients and supplement market. Today we serve customers all over the world with the highest quality Omega-3 oils.
Vesteraalens mission is to, through an extensive network of partners, build the world leading value chain for white fish. Our cooperation stretches from tight partnership with the fishing vessels, through the receiving stations and all the way to formulation work and design of finished consumer products together with our customers.

A NORWEGIAN ICON FOR OVER HUNDRED YEARS
Vesteraalens adventurous journey began way back in the year 1912. Throughout all these years, Vesteraalens has produced first-class quality seafood products. The iconic green-colored fish tin can has been the company’s flagship from the very beginning, loved by Norwegians for more than a century.
In 1917, Vesteraalens was contacted by the famous Arctic explorer Roald Amundsen, he needed food supplies for his polar expedition. Roald Amundsen was a pioneer and understood the nutritional needs needed to survive in difficult conditions. Vesteraalens was ordered to produce supplies for Roald Amundsen’s expedition through the northeast passage in 1918-1922. SUPERIOR NORWEGIAN SEAFOOD
Producing high-quality marine seafood requires a dedicated and careful handling trough the entire production process, from the raw material to the finished goods. Vesteraalens have full control of the incoming of the fresh raw materials from local fish landing sites.
Every year, between January and April, the coastal water of Northern Norway thrives with life, when Skrei (Gadus morhua) travels from the Barents Sea to its spawning grounds. 60% of the Norwegian cod is harvested in the waters surrounding Vesteraalens production facilities.
